Two developments this week will increase protections for South Louisiana’ s Port Fourchon and Louisiana Offshore Oil Port (LOOP). Port Fourchon handles more than 75% of the oil and gas production from the Gulf of Mexico, while LOOP is the only port in the U.S. capable of offloading the deepest draft tankers.

On July 15, 2020, the Unites States Customs and Border Protection (“CBP”) issued a ruling (HQ H309672) in connection with the installation of an offshore wind farm located off the coast of Rhode Island and Massachusetts in U.S. As such, CBP determined that the Installation Vessel served no transportation function. 1333(a)(1).
