Weekly Crude Oil Storage as of February 28, 2025 U.S. commercial crude oil inventories ( excluding those in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve ) increased by 3.6 million barrels from the previous week. At 433.8 million barrels, U.S. crude oil inventories are 4% below the five-year average for this time of year, according to the EIA crude oil and petroleum weekly storage data, reporting inventories as of February 28, 2025.
The number of rigs deployed to drill for natural gas in the United States decreased over the last two years, according to stats from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). U.S. natural gas-directed rigs decreased 32% (50 rigs) between December 2022 and December 2024. The decline was concentrated in the natural gas-rich Haynesville and Marcellus/Utica.
