Covered closings occur when there is a temporary or permanent shutdown of an employment site that results in an employment loss during any 30-day period for 50 or more employees. The WARN Act requires employers to provide 60-days’ notice of any plant closing or mass layoff unless the employer meets any of these three exceptions.
